Addicted Traveling Bums

My husband and I travel a lot. About six years ago, I went to work for an airline because his work moved us away from our family and our fun times with the grandkids. I was heartbroken because I knew we would not have the money for airline tickets so I wouldn’t be able to see them except maybe every other year. So, I drove to the airport and applied for a job and was hired. At first, I only flew to Arizona to visit the kids and grand kids but then we and I discovered the fantastic benefit of flying internationally, and that is when we became addicted traveling bums.

We are pretty much ordinary folks. Our traveling is not in the least bit luxurious or even appealing to many people but we love the discovery of other ways of living around the globe. Aside from the limits of time and the physical body, we want to take full advantage of my flight benefits before we are crippled by food poisoning, parasites, getting creamed in the chaotic traffic in some crazy country, dysentery, imprisonment, Alzheimer’s - either caused by an overdose of jet fumes or old age, sleep deprivation, or killing each other.

Interestingly, our kids and parents worry way too much about us when we travel to unusual places and so we decided to start a networking/blogging site where we could tell about our adventures while we were traveling so everyone we love could be included in our international tales. Now that our family (and friends) can read where we are and what we are doing while we are traveling, they are happy to take a virtual trip. We also love that we can read about the stories of other travelers and share their wealth of information, pictures, and form newfound electronic friendships.

This is why we started to Twitter Travel. Because it is really fun to be a part of an international community of travelers (and save our family and friends’ sanity.) I wish that I could blog every day, but I work an inordinate amount of hours because the airline industry allows their employees to swap days with each other, which allows clumping together lots of days off for traveling. So, I am either working or traveling. But I love to share the stories of our travel and try to blog as much as possible in between trips.

If anyone is reading my blogs, I would love to hear about your travel dreams and even hear your suggestions about adventures in wild places. Maybe we will be traveling to your dream place one day and our experience can help you. I hope so because many times when we are traveling I wonder if there is any usefulness for others in our tramping all over the planet.

Happy travels!

Aloha from Kauai

GREEN is the best description I can contrive for Kauai. Pictures are the best way to show you the beauty of the garden island but we didn't even skim the surface in our two day visit which did not include any waterfalls or snorkeling. The island is truly a place to put on your "places to visit during my life" list.…

Holiday with Friends- Australia

Fortunately, a red dust storm did not occur while we were in Australia, but this is one of Russell's pictures of how things look when the red sands of Australia are stirred. Phoenix dust storms have nothing on Australia.

We had a most wonderful time with Jennifer, Russell, Nicholas, Georgia, and Madison. Oh, and the cats too - Mozart and Minty who both claimed space at the foot of our bed during the night. They were pretty excited about… Continue

Bush, Bridges, Boats - Sydney, Australia

Australia's famous Harbor Bridge is an architectural wonder that elegantly arches high over Sydney Harbor. Approximately 500 homes and businesses were destroyed to create enough room to build the bridge. We walked across it at the level of the cars but if a person wants to climb over the bridge on the arch it will cost around $300 and about three to four hours of your time. We really would have enjoyed the thrill of crossing over the arch but the… Continue

Sanibel Island - Beaches, Bikes, and Wildlife Refuge

We woke up at 6am and headed down to the lighthouse with hopes of finding the most excellent shells. The gift shops always plant that little hope that just maybe the treasured perfect shell will coming rolling up to shore right at my feet. But, alas; nothing grand to show for an unskilled shell hunter. However, the booty from the night’s ocean tides were better than the day before since we started…

Well, I need to find time to post some; funilly I don't have a lot of pictures of my own country (only a few of Zermatt and Le Cervin, where if you come to Switzerland once you have to visit; I think it's the most beautiful place of Switzerland). I love the United States by the way; I love to visit both the country sides and the cities; your country is so big and diversified (compared to the tiny country I live in :)
