No doubt, many have wondered who are the people who put together the whole Casa de Sion program in Guatemala. Allow me to introduce an amazing family who has mastered the art of service and giving. I am honored to be standing with a group of people who have sacrificed and labored tirelessly for the people of Guatemala. They actually have 18 children but many are grown and married with their own families so 7 of them came to Guatemala for a few months this year to help build and work with the program they started many years ago. This is the Dalia Family. Unlike almost all others who have started a non profit corporation aimed at providing help and support to the people of Guatemala, the Dalia's take no money whatsoever from donations. In fact, they personally invest a huge amount of money each year from their own personal business to support this foundation. Every penny of money that is invested in this non profit goes to Guatemala. I challenge you to find another that takes this as such a personal mission and not a profit opportunity.

This is an unusual family, as I am sure you can see by the photo. They had 10 of their own children but that was not enough. So many special needs and interracial kids needed the kind of love and support they could offer so they adopted another 8 kids. Yes, they are an unusual family; one that many of us would like to emulate. They give of their time and resources to the exclusive benefit of hundreds of very disadvantaged poor in Guatemala.

When you venture out to Los Robles where this family has built a facility with their own money and resources to feed and educate the people of this region, you will have the opportunity to meet the grounds keeper, Juan, and his two boys, Juan Carlos and Erwin. The Dalia's found Juan in very unfortunate conditions living on the streets of Guatemala City and his boys were in an orphanage after their mother had died. They hired Juan and his boys to come to Los Robles to take care of the property and mostly to give he and his boys a second chance at live. They guard and care for the place and receive a place to live and food to eat and an opportunity for his boys to attend school and break the cycle the afflicts to many here. My heart breaks to think of where these men would be were it not for the generosity and kindness of the Dalia's by providing them with this "second chance."

This is my great wife who came to Guatemala to become acquainted with these good people and share her wonderful spirit with these beautiful people. Oh yes, and to work and help in every way possible to move forward such an important work.  Without her, life would have little meaning and I am ever grateful for her support and hard work. This is an unusual project. I am thrilled to be associated with so many very good people.

These are the good people of Guatemala at the local market place. The color and vibrancy of this people becomes quite addictive. I am sure as you stay tuned to Twitter Travel, you will see much more of Guatemala and these wonderful people. casadesion.blogspot.com
