Our organization has hired 3 full time teachers to tutor and enhance the academic experience of our kids at Casa de Sion. They are Leonardo, Alfredo and Gil. Leonardo and Alfredo do the after-school program at Nueva Victoria, the community we serve in the very remote mountains of Central Guatemala. They have 120 kids in the first six years of school that get a nice hot lunch when school is out and then spend the next 3 hours taking them to the next level academically. The are sober and sincere young men who are making a difference in this incredibly disadvantaged community. Gil is our teacher in Los Robles with the 60+ students in the elementary school here. They also receive a nutritious hot lunch and then settle in for 3 hours of lessons, sometimes as simple as learning to brush your teeth to algebra equations for the older ones. We are so grateful for our teachers.

Here is one of our Nueva Victoria students. They may not be dressed in all the latest styles but they are eager to learn. Of course, what do I know, these clothes might go for hundreds of dollars in the US!

A few more of our boys. Odd that they can be so happy and so poor at the same time. I thought money made you happy?!?!

I agree, that outfit could go for hundreds of dollars and he looks like a good model for a magazine too.

This is a kind of weird question, Joel, but do the father's of these cute kids play a very large role in their lives?  I see pics of moms and children, but not too many men.  I'm just curious.  I just want to hug every one of these darlings!
